What is preventative maintenance?

The term preventative maintenance describes efforts that help avoid future problems.

It’s as simple as it sounds. Preventative maintenance is simply a checkup on your heating and cooling system. Most of our customers in LA that request a tune up have an air conditioner that is working just fine.

It’s like going to the dentist twice a year even if you have no noticeable problems with your teeth (lucky you!). The reason behind the visits to your dental provider is to get a deep clean and identify any potential issues early on. That way, you can plan for a necessary procedure–or prevent the need for a procedure at all.

So, think of our expert technicians like a doctor for your heating and cooling system. We test the performance, inspect components, and clean out the system. We help restore your HVAC system to the best possible condition. At the conclusion of our service visit, we’ll bring to your attention and the issues we’ve identified. Our knowledgeable team will explain the options available to fix or repair the problems. Then you decide on the next steps.

Here’s another way to look at it. Annual maintenance is relatively painless while dealing with an A/C or furnace repair can be very stressful.

Maintenance Plans for LA Homeowners

Here’s the thing: preventative maintenance only works if you remember to schedule. Since maintenance is required only twice a year, most people just forget to do it. Even for the most highly organized people, scheduling HVAC maintenance falls to the bottom of the to-do list.

Not to mention the cost. A single tune up can range in price from $75 to $150. Most people can think of more enticing ways to spend that kind of money.

Here at Canoga Park Heating & Air Conditioning, we believe so firmly in the value of preventative maintenance, that we came up with a way to make certain our customers get the tuneups they need and an affordable price.

We created a special program called a maintenance plan. For a low monthly fee, customers receive two maintenance visits a year. One visit in the spring for your air conditioner, then another visit in the fall for your heater. We offer basic, comprehensive, and premium plan options depending on your specific needs.

Every maintenance plan includes:

  • Scheduling reminders–so you don’t have to remember
  • Priority scheduling–you’ll move to the top of the scheduling list when you need service
  • Discounts on service calls–reduced pricing if you ever experience a breakdown

There are several reasons why a maintenance plan is a logical choice. We have designed this plan with our customers in mind. This plan is a much better value than scheduling one-off maintenance, and we’ll take care of getting you scheduled. It’s a win-win!

Prefer a one time fee? We offer that. We’ll combine your tune-ups into one visit, and you pay one price. Call us at 818-924-2015

Benefits

Benefits of Air Conditioning and Heater Maintenance in Los Angeles

Prevent emergency repairs–There’s nothing more frustrating than a broken air conditioner. And it gradually gets worse as the temperature rises in the home. Regular maintenance helps catch any red flags in your HVAC before they cause a breakdown.

Improve performance – Regular tune-ups give your air conditioner the revitalization it really needs – just like changing the oil in your car.

Energy savings – with improved performance comes lower energy bills. That’s good for your wallet and the environment.

Future planning – with the information from a preventative maintenance visit, you’ll have a sense of what to expect in the future. Will you need to replace your AC in the next year? A maintenance report will tell you.

Safety – Although heaters and furnaces are designed to the highest safety standards, unchecked wear and tear on the system can lead to safety concerns like carbon monoxide exposure.

HVAC Maintenance vs. Home Inspection

A home inspection is not the same as an annual service visit by a NATE-certified technician. If you’re the new owner of a home in the Los Angeles area, congratulations! But you do need to schedule maintenance – and likely sooner rather than later.

A home inspection will probably only report the age of your AC and heater, and relevant data like brand, model, efficiency rating, and refrigerant type.  Normal home inspections do not include cleaning, component lubrication, or performance testing.

In short, a home inspection tells you very little about the condition of your HVAC system. By contrast, a tuneup will not only give you a complete view of the state of your HVAC, but also improve the performance of your system.
